About

Tamar Rubin practices medicine at Children’s Hospital Winnipeg. She is an associate professor of pediatrics and child health at the University of Manitoba, and an investigator at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba.

Her first full-length poetry collection, Tablet Fragments, was published in 2020, and offers a diagnostic eyewitness to the fractures of marriage, medicine, and cultural identity. Tablet Fragments was shortlisted for numerous awards, including the League of Canadian Poets’ Gerald Lampert Memorial Award, and the Manitoba Book Awards’ McNally Robinson Book of the Year Award. Her writing has appeared in both literary and medical publications, including Prairie Fire, The New Quarterly, The Winnipeg Free Press, JAMA, The Hippocrates Medical Poetry Anthology, and Poetry in Voice Anthology.

Her next poetry collection, Parent Strand, examines the complex inheritance of joy, trauma, fate and free will, and is forthcoming with At Bay Press in 2027.

She lives in Winnipeg with her husband and their 3 children.
